BALTIMORE, MD. - Howard took a stranglehold on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North race this weekend with a road sweep of Morgan State.

The Bison (21-16, 11-1) have extended their winning streak to eight games while sweeping their last two conference series’.

On Saturday, Howard scored 19 runs while defeating the Bears (7-32, 3-9) 6-2 and 13-5 respectively in the double header.

Nicole Saez had a stellar day at the plate going 5-8 on the afternoon with four runs batted in and a home run in each game.  Courtney Young highlighted game two by going a perfect 2-2 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI’s in the Bison rout.

Carly Martin pitched game one for the Bison and pitched a gem at that.  Martin (7-6) pitched a complete game giving up just one run on four hits.

After a Howard slugfest on Saturday afternoon, Sunday was an entirely different story.  Howard needed every one of Christine McCoy’s six strong innings of three hit shutout pitching.  McCoy improved to 6-4 on the year while Emily Johnson picked up her third save of the season by pitching one inning and striking out two as the Bison completed the sweep with a 3-0 victory.
