BALTIMORE, MD. - Howard took a stranglehold on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North race this weekend with a road sweep of Morgan State.
The Bison (21-16, 11-1) have extended their winning streak to eight games while sweeping their last two conference series’.
On Saturday, Howard scored 19 runs while defeating the Bears (7-32, 3-9) 6-2 and 13-5 respectively in the double header.
Nicole Saez had a stellar day at the plate going 5-8 on the afternoon with four runs batted in and a home run in each game. Courtney Young highlighted game two by going a perfect 2-2 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI’s in the Bison rout.
Carly Martin pitched game one for the Bison and pitched a gem at that. Martin (7-6) pitched a complete game giving up just one run on four hits.
After a Howard slugfest on Saturday afternoon, Sunday was an entirely different story. Howard needed every one of Christine McCoy’s six strong innings of three hit shutout pitching. McCoy improved to 6-4 on the year while Emily Johnson picked up her third save of the season by pitching one inning and striking out two as the Bison completed the sweep with a 3-0 victory.
Howard will play at Charleston Southern this Thursday, first pitch is slated for 4pm.
