ORMOND BEACH, FLA. - Freshman Rebecca Kirshner (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg H.S.) was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year at the annual softball tip-off banquet.

Kirshner hit .326 from the plate in 46 games including three home runs, one triple, eight doubles and 18 RBI.  She ranked fifth in the MEAC in runs scored with 30 and recorded a fielding percentage of .946. 

Kirshner and the rest of the Bison will face North Carolina A&T in the opening round of the MEAC Championship on Thursday at 10 a.m.
