Howard Uses Late Rally To Sweep Norfolk State

Norfolk, VA--Howard scored in the top of the seventh in both games of a double header to sweep Norfolk State, 5-4 and 8-7 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tilt  at the Norfolk State Field.

In the first game, the Lady Bison went into the top of the seventh, trailing 4-3 to the Lady Spartans (20-22).  Rebecca Kirshner who had a big day at the bat and on the field, reached first on a fielding error.

After Dominique Lawrence flied out, Andascha  Pryor Moore doubled to send Kirshner home with the game-tying run.  Trina Kindred then doubled to send Pryor Moore home with the tie breaker.  Samantha Gatson then closed out the game to get the win.

In the second game, the two teams battled to a 4-4 tie through the first four innings.  Then each scored four runs in the sixth to  deadlock the game at 7-7 headed into the seventh.

Lorae Robinson, who also had a big day at the plate, singled to start the rally.  Kirshner reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second.  She would later score the go-ahead run on a fielding error.

Lawrence would come in relief of Gatson (4-18) who earned the victory.

Robinson and Kindred each collected four hits, while Kirshner had three.
