Feb 23, 2008Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Season at CCSA Championships![]() By Jamela Joseph HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - The HU men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up their respective season at the inaugural Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships at the Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics Center on Feb 21-23. The women's team took a 6th place finish while the men's squad finished in 8th place. On the first day, the women's 200 yard freestyle relay team A ( Nzingha Murphy, Khalilah Robinson, Allyssa Armstrong, Aminah Murphy) began the meet with a 7th place finish in 1:38.59. Nzingha Murphy sealed a 5th place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in 24.39. On the following day, the 200 yard medley relay team A (Armstrong, Robinson, Aminah Murphy, Nzingha Murphy) went on to take an 8th place finish in 1:52.75 On the last day, Nzingha crossed the 100 yard freestyle line in 53.47, while the 400 yard freestyle relay team A ( Nzingha Murphy, Polo Edwards, Robinson, Aminah Murphy) raced to an 8th place finish in 3:39.81. For the men, the 200 yard freestyle relay team A (Jules Graham, Miguel Orellana, Tyrone Dash Jr., Isaiah Allen) took a 4th place finish in 1:29.23. Orellana fared well in the 500 yard freestyle, taking home an 11th place finish in 4:54.86. The 400 yard medley relay team A ended the first day with a 4th place finish in 3:46.59. On day two of the meet, the 200 yard medley relay team A (Dash Jr., Orellana, Graham, Allen) paced Howard to a 5th place finish in 1:43.48. Orellana (1:45.22) and Allen (1:49.85) took home 8th and 9th place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle. On the final day, Graham (48.35) and Allen (48.88) finished 12th and 15th in the 100 yard freestyle. Orellana had a good showing in the 200 yard breaststroke, placing 8th in 2:15.92. The 400 yard freestyle relay team A (Graham, Orellana, Dash Jr., Allen) ended the meet with a strong 4th place finish in 3:16.94. As a final result, the season has come to an end with the women's team finishing in 8th place with 104 points, and the men's team finishing in 6th place with 176 points. |
