DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Howard men's and women's swimming teams took fifth and eighth, respectively, at the Davidson Invitational on Nov. 16-18 in Davidson, N.C.
Miguel Orellana had a good showing for HU on the men's side. The freshman took fourth in the A group of the 400 yard IM in 4:15.35 and third in the A group of the 500 yard freestyle in 4:44.65.
Charles Canady crossed the 200 yard breaststroke line in 2:20.95 and was 11th in the 100 yard freestyle in 1:03.82.
Jules Graham had a busy weekend and took seventh (53.72) in the 100 yard butterfly, 15th (2:10.03) in the 200 yard butterfly and 16th (49.35) in the 100 yard freestyle.
Isaiah Allen was 13th in two events, the 50 yard freestyle (22.36) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:49.42). Allen went on to take 15th in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:10.03.
For the women, Khalilah Robinson was 14th in the B bracket in 1:01.80. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Robinson, Jessica Freeland, Allyssa Armstrong and Ashley Hairston was seventh in 1:45.15 while the 400 yard medley relay team (Armstrong, Robinson, Freeland and Hairston) also took seventh after crossing the line in 4:21.99.
Armstrong, Robinson, Freeland and Hairston paced Howard to an eighth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The Lady Bison went on to finish seventh (3:51.70) in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The two squads are off for two weeks before returning to action on Dec. 1 at a duel meet at New Rochelle, N.Y. against Iona and Canisius.
