Howard Falls to Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The HU swim teams fell to Drexel in Philadelphia on Jan. 31. The men were downed by the Dragons 142-76-142 while the women's squad fell 126-66.
Senior Nzingha Murphy won the women's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.61, while junior Polo Edwards placed third in 2:05.16. Miguel Orellana took first in the men's 200 yard IM with a time of 2:00.13.
In the women's 100 yard freestyle, Nzingha Murphy came through with another exciting win, placing first in 54.34. Damjan Strbac, a freshman, finished second in the men's 100 yard freestyle in 48.94 and Isaiah Allen was not too far behind after taking fourth with a time of 49.82.
The women's squad got impressive wins from Edwards in the 500 yard freestyle (5:38.32) and freshman Monique Major in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:23.63). Lauren Anthony was the runner-up in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:33.70).
Senior Shaun Armstrong (1:01.82) and freshman Julian Mosley (1:13.34) saw action in the 100 yard breaststroke. The men's 200 yard freestyle relay won gold with a time of 1:29.42.
Howard returns to action Feb. 7 when they host the HBCU Championship at 3 pm.
