FAIRFAX, VA. - The Howard women's and men's swim teams concluded action on Sunday night with remarkable performance from many of their finest student-athletes.

The men were led for a third day in a row by senior Miguel Orellana.  The men's captain concluded his remarkable weekend with a  13th place finish in the 200 breaststroke with 2:12.98, a new season-best mark and a team-best race in the event for the year.

Orellana anchored the best-finishing relay of the weekend for both squads in the 400 freestyle relay.  Teamed with senior Brad Worrell and freshman Zadok Issacs, the Howard men blitzed their way to an impressive time of 3:11.68 and a ninth place finish.

Isaacs earned his first evening swim of his young career-with an outstanding 200 backstroke.  His 2:00.33 notched him 20th place, a new best time in yards and a season-best time for the men's team.

For a third day in a row, freshman Chelsea Andrews sparked the women's squad.  Having already finished in top 24 in her previous three events, Andrews took command in the 100 freestyle with the women's best finish of meet.  Her 52.92 vaulted her into the championship round and, ultimately, earned her 8th place.

Andrews also anchored the women in their finest relay finish of the weekend.  Combined with fellow freshman Summer Davis and E'Lan Brewer as well as senior Polo Edwards, the Lady Bison garnered 13th place with a 3:42.65.

Senior Alyssa Rogers earned her way into the evening swims.  In the 200 breaststroke, Rogers bettered her time from her morning swim to capture 24th place in a time of 2:37.83.

"There is a lot to be proud of from this weekend," said head coach Matt Salerno.  "To have every swimmer improve their times on the basis of solid training and determination is a testament to the direction the program is headed.  We will take the lessons, achievements and enthusiasm from this weekend and use it as fuel for future competitions and challenges in front of us."

The Bison have concluded competition for the fall semester, but will continue training before resuming action in January.
