Sophomore Briana Dillon (Katy, TX) and senior Zadok Isaacs (Cantaro Village, Trinidad & Tobago) each earned the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmer of the Week honors, as it was announced on December 12.
Dillon won Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the first time in her career after exceptional efforts against Georgetown University and the Catholic University of America on Saturday, December 8. Leading the Lady Bison to their second victory in two weeks, Dillon showcased marvelous talent in the 200 individual medley, the 500 freestyle and leading-off the 200 freestyle relay.
Dillon defeated all Lady Hoyas and Lady Cardinals in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:16.37. That split earned her a fifth-place ledge on Howard's All-Time list. Dillon later defeated Catholic and took fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.73. This also placed the super-soph into fifth place on the Lady Bison All-Time list. She concluded the meet swimming the lead leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay. This marked the fourth and fifth times the Lady Bison have taken the 200 freestyle relay, Dillon being slotted in each of those winning races.
Isaacs had as impressive and decorated of a dual meet as ever in his Bison career. The senior brought the Howard men their first dual meet victory of the season after a rousing, come-from-behind anchor leg in the 200 freestyle relay against Catholic. His split of 21.23 helped the Bison break the draw going into the final event, leading the men to a 103.5-98.5 win over the Cardinals. Isaacs claimed four individual victories on the afternoon, defeating all of the Hoyas and Cardinals in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Isaacs won the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 21.74 and the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 47.43. Isaacs leads both the men's and women's team with 10 individual victories on the season.
This marks the first time since 2009 Howard can boast having the CCSA Swimmers of the Week. Ashley Goins earned Diver of the Week honors in 2010, the last time HU received conference recognition.
Dillon, Isaacs and rest of the Bison will be in action again on Saturday, January 5 when the team travels to Towson University to take on the Tigers at 1PM.
