Howard Women Have Another Fine Outing

Clemson, SC-April 8-The Howard University women's and men's track teams continue to show well as they prepare for the upcoming Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor championships, May 4-6 in Greensboro, NC.  Several participants won their events or placed high in the Clemson Invitational this past weekend at the Clemson Invitational.

            For the women, Indira Garcia finished second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.05 while Natalie Mapp came in third in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.00.  Alyssa Johnson placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.37 as did the 4X100-meter relay team of Brittany Rogers, LaClaire Carter, Lauren McNary and Johnson which posted a time of 48.5.

            Other notable performances included: Alicia Williams, fourth in the 800-meter run; Latavia Lewis, fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.81; Lillian Daniels, fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:05.68; Amanda Stevenson, fifth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:53.05; and Ashley Vann, fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:21.99.  They garnered 67 points to place fourth overall in the competition.

            On the men's side, Jacoby Dubose captured the 110 hurdles with a 14.26 clocking while the 4X400-meter relay team of Dante Buckner, Daniel Kinney, Christopher George and Nicholas Wright finished second with a time of 3:16.83.  Other notable performances included: David Wynn finishing third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.77 and fourth in the 1500-meter run with a clocking of 4:02.12; Wright finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.42; and Kinney finishing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.21) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (14.42).  The team finished with 58 points to place sixth.

            Both teams will travel to Charlottesville, VA to compete in the University of Virginia Invitational this Saturday.
