LEWISBURG, PA. - The Howard men's and women's track and field teams fared well in its season opening indoor meet Saturday at the Bucknell Opener in Lewisburg, Pa.

Landria Buckley took home a pair of first place finishes and qualified for MEAC's in the 60m hurdles (8.67) and the 200m dash (25.50). Ashley Hodges was the runner up in the 800m run (2:22.62) and the mile run (5:09.80) while Alexandria Lemonious took fourth in the 60m hurdles after crossing the line in 9.02. Hodges' time in the mile run also qualified her for MEAC's.

Azalia King was eighth in the 800m run (2:29.80) and the 4x400m relay team of Buckley, Hodges, Violet King and Brittany Stephens took ninth in 4:04.12.

On the men's side, Daniel Kinney was the runner up in the 60m hurdles and qualified for MEAC's after finishing his event in 8.16. Stephen Small-Warner and Thurman Sanders also finished the day with MEAC qualifying marks, as Small-Warner took second in the long jump (6.96m) and Sanders was the runner up in the mile run (4:25.39).

Rashard Nelson (4:32.69), Lavernon Spivey (4:34.49), Jerold Franklin (4:38.78) and Jamin Lundy (4:49.36) all finished in the top 10 in the mile run. Brandon Carter was seventh in the 60m dash in 7.06 and Kimery Williams took eighth in the 400m dash in 51.59.

Richard Williams (1:58.80) led a 4-5-6-8-9 finish for the Bison in the 800m dash with Matthew Cody (1:59.15), Sanders (1:59.62), Spivey (2:00.47) and Franklin (2:00.53) all finishing in the top 10 for HU.

The men's 4x400m relay A team (Kinney, Cody, Richard Williams and Kimery Williams) took second in 3:22.30 and the B team comprised of Lundy, Joseph Barnes, DeAndre Henderson and Michael Kendall was ninth in 3:37.94.

Howard is off for a few weeks before returning to action on Jan. 11-12 at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
