Women's 4x400 Wins Gold at MEAC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The women's 4x400m relay squad (Lauren McNary, Brittany Stephens, Landria Buckley, Jami Hardy) won gold during action at the 2009 MEAC Outdoor Championship.

The squad qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship with their first-place finish in 3:41.13.

McNary placed fifth in the 200m run (24.04) and later won bronze in the 400m dash after finishing in 52.97. The Florida native also improved on her NCAA qualifying time in the latter.

Buckley also took home a bronze medal after finishing the 100m hurdles in 13.59. Her 13.48 qualifying time in the preliminaries bettered her positioning for the upcoming NCAA Regional Championship.

Buckley won gold in the 400m hurdles (58.22) while improving on her NCAA qualifying time in that event.

Alexandria Lemonious grabbed a team point for HU after an eighth place finish in the 110m hurdles (14.36).

Hardy was fifth in the 800m run (2:11.29) and Ashley Hodges was seventh after crossing the line in 2:17.13.

Hodges went on to win a silver medal in the 1500m run (4:39.15) while Tamila Myles took fifth in the 3000m steeplechase (12:37.23).

In field events, Norell Abernathy placed fifth in the javelin throw with a throw of 33.82m (111').

The men's squad got a fifth-place finish from Stephen Small-Warner in the long jump (7.12m or 23'4".)

Daniel Kinney won silver in a pair of events. The Michigan native crossed the 110m hurdle line in 14.03 before finishing the 400m hurdles in 51.57. The latter improved his NCAA qualifying time in that event.

The men's 4x400m relay (Christopher Harrison, Richard Williams, Mikael LaRoche, Kinney) took fifth in 3:11.43.

Williams placed sixth in the 800m run (1:53.12) and Thurman Sanders was fifth in the 3000m steeplechase after finishing in 10:03.12.

The Lady Bison wrapped up the MEAC Championship with 59 points, good for a sixth-place finish. The Bison men finished in 11th place with 31 points.
