Bison Compete at Penn State National, Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, VA. - Howard senior Stephen Small-Warner won the long jump during competition at the Patriot Games on Saturday. The Bison did double duty and also took the course at Penn State National in University Park, Pa.

Small-Warner jumped to first place with a distance of 7.35m, while sophomore Benjamin Rosa tied for fourth in both the triple jump and high jump with a leap of 13.51m and after clearing 1.85m, respectively.

Anthony Penny placed second in the 60m dash (6.98) with Tochi Odocha finishing closely behind in third (7.08).  Hurdlers Carnegie Tirado (8.46) and Marcus Harrison (8.55) finished fourth and sixth in the 60m hurdles.

Several other Bison men finished with a top ten finish including Penny (22.83) and Odocha (22.92) in the 200m dash with third and sixth place finishes, respectively.  Elijah Daniels (1:09.1) and DeAndre Henderson (1:10.55) took fifth and sixth place finishes in the 500m dash. Mikael LaRoche finished eighth in the 400m with a time of 52.43 and Hamadi Price (2:03.94) finished 10th in the 800m run.

The Lady Bison also had several top ten finishes including Alexandra McKee's fifth place finish in the high jump clearing 1.55m and Dontranika Horton's fifth place leap of 11.16m in the triple jump.

Keisha Myrick (9.37) placed seventh in the 60m hurdles while Brittany Stephens (1:00:15) placed fourth in the 400m dash. TeaCarla Wade and Unique Taylor finished ninth and 10th in the 200m dash in 26.75 and 26.88, respectively.

During action at the Penn State National, the distance medley men's team placed 10th with a time of 10:16.42 and the women's team placed seventh with a time of 12:08.78.  Landria Buckley finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.35.

The men's 4x400m relay (3:20.12) placed 12th and the women's squad finished second with a time of 3:47.14. The Lady Bison got an 8th place finish in the 800m from Jami Hardy (2:15.52) and teammate Ashley Hodges (2:20.19) was not far behind. Richard Williams (1:55.86) also took the course for the Bison men.

Neither of the meets compiled team scores. Howard returns to action on Feb. 6 at the Vince Brown Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport.
