Howard Volleyball Inks Two Early The Howard University women's volleyball program has announced two early signings for the 2007 season. Keri Partridge and Monique McCoy have signed National Letters of Intent to play volleyball for the Lady Bison next season. Partridge, a middle-blocker out of Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, TN, is the 2006 Player of the Year in the state of Tennessee. She received Most Valuable Player honors while leading her team to its first ever state championship. In the championship game, Partridge put down 14 kills with 10 digs, four blocks and two service aces. "Keri will be a cornerstone in the rebuilding of this program," states first year head coach Orlando Larracuente. "It's a blessing to get an athlete of her caliber to commit this early in the recruiting process. She is versatile enough to play anywhere on the floor and her love for the game is apparent through her commitment; she is a proven winner." McCoy plays club volleyball for Club Vegas 18's and hails from Durango High School in Las Vegas, NV. Her primary position will be libero but she will also see time as a setter. "Monique is an outstanding athlete," says Larracuente. "She will give us depth as a defensive specialist and as a back-up setter. Monique will bring great energy and is the complete team player." "I think it is paramount that the student-athletes we sign are committed to excellence on and off the court and have a genuine love for Howard University," says Larracuente. Both Partridge and McCoy are passionate about their desire to pursue their college education at Howard University, "that pretty much sealed the deal as far as I'm concerned."
