Howard Defeats Coppin in Three
Morgan Maxwell put down 14 kills and Janel James put down 11 kills as Howard defeated Coppin State, 3-0, (30-28 30-23, 31-29).
The match was even throughout game one and game two as neither the Lady Bison nor the Lady Eagles (0-4) was able to pull too far ahead.
Having a two game lead, Howard appeared to have complete control of the match late in game three going up by as many as three, 21-24, but Coppin State would not be denied forcing Howard into a tie game at 28. The Lady Bison would score the next three of four points to defeat Coppin State in three games.
Jasmine George led Coppin State in kills and digs with 14 and 10 respectively.
The Lady Bison will have a week off before traveling to Princess Anne, MD to take on the Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Sept. 12.
