Howard Falls to Morgan in Four

Washington, DC---The Howard women's volleyball team fell to the Morgan State University, 3-1, (15-30, 30-27. 21-30, 16-30) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up in Burr Gym.

The Lady Bison, (3-11, 0-2 MEAC), could not get their rhythm going in Game One falling down by as many as 15 before they could put a string of points together.  The Lady Bears (9-6, 2-0 MEAC) would eventually win game one 15-30.

Game Two belonged to Howard as they jumped out to an early 7-3 lead.  The Lady Bison would maintain their lead until Morgan pulled their offense together late to pull within three.  Morgan's threat would not be enough as the Lady Bison won Game Two, 30-27.Morgan State took their momentum into Games Three and Four and controlled the tempo for both of the games, defeating Howard, 21-30 and 16-30, respectively.

Morgan Maxwell led the way for the Lady Bison with a double-double, 11 kills-11 digs.  Brooke Strode contributed nine kills while Jenica Leonard led the team defensively with 15 digs in the loss.

Morgan State's Ivanti Bush led all attackers with 22 kills while Ashley Preston led the team defensively with a game high 18 digs.

Howard will travel to Dover, De this Saturday, Oct. 7 to take on Delaware State at 2 p.m.  The Lady Bison will return to Burr Gym next Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. when they host the Lady Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Game Notes: Setter Shannon Grant put up 25 assists in the match...Freshman Kimberly Watson played in her first game as a Lady Bison and she contributed one kill and two block assist.
