WASHINGTON, D.C. - Three Lady Bison netters had double-doubles but it was not enough as Howard fell 3-1 (30-26, 30-27, 26-30, 32-30) to Delaware State in a close-knit volleyball decision Thursday night at Burr Gymnasium.

Elyssa Lee and Morgan Maxwell had 13 kills each to pace the Lady Bison. Maxwell added 12 kills on the defensive end and libero Monique McCoy dug out a match-high 21 balls.

Janel James had a double-double of 12 kills and 15 digs and Gazelle d'Artois chipped in with 32 set-assists and 15 digs. d'Artois also finished with a team-high three service aces.

Delaware State got 20 kills from Ayana Dyette. Cassandra Joyner had a double-double of 17 kills and 16 digs while Laura Hucaluk finished with 44 set-assists and 19 digs. Libero Kinga Muszynski added 17 digs.

The Lady Bison hit .109 as a team and the Lady Hornets were not much higher, finishing with a .179 hitting percentage. HU held an 81-74 advantage in digs and were edged 19-15 in blocks.

Howard returns to action on Sunday when they host Coppin State in a conference matchup at 3pm in Burr Gymnasium.
