HAMPTON, VA. - Janel James had a double double and Morgan Maxwell added 18 kills as Howard recorded its first conference volleyball win with a 3-1 (30-23, 30-27, 24-30, 30-22) victory over Hampton Wednesday evening at Holland Gymnasium.

James had her second straight double-double and finished with 11 kills and 11 digs. Nicole Brown chipped in with 10 digs on the defensive end and Gazelle d'Artois finished with 34 set-assists. Maxwell hit .336 for the match as the Lady Bison improved to 2-15 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Ebonie Vincent paced the Lady Pirates with 22 kills and Alyssa Jackson led Hampton in digs with 15.

Howard continues conference play this Friday with a match against Morgan State at 7pm in Baltimore, Md.
