BALTIMORE, MD - Senior Morgan Maxwell had a team-high eight kills as UMBC blanked Howard 3-0 (30-17, 30-13, 30-11) in a women's volleyball contest Tuesday night at the Retriever Athletic Center.

The Lady Bison jumped onto the board first and took a 2-0 advantage on the Retrievers in the first game, but the Retrievers responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead.

Howard (0-8) threatened with ties at 12 and 13 points apiece but a kill by Britney Hodson spurred another run by the Retrievers and gave UMBC a 23-16 advantage. The Retrievers then outscored the Lady Bison 9-1 en route to the game 1 win.

Maxwell added eight digs on the defensive end while Monique McCoy finished with a team-high 11 digs. Gazelle d'Artois chipped in with 19 set-assists.

Howard returns to action this weekend at the George Washington tourney on Sept. 14-15.
