Volleyball Falls to UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. - The Howard volleyball team fell to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 3-0, Wednesday night at UMES' Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne. The Lady Bison were downed by the scores 30-24, 30-25, 30-26.

The Lady Hawks improved to 13-4 and 4-0 in conference play, while Howard fell to 2-17 and 1-2 in conference play.

Morgan Maxwell was the lone Lady Bison to reach double figures in kills with 12. Elyssa Lee and Janel James added seven digs each on the defensive end.

Whitney Johnson paced UMES with 17 kills but the Bison defense held the three-time MEAC Player of the Week to just a .195 hitting percentage. Caylin Woodward dug out a team-high nine balls for the Hawks.

Howard will return to action on Saturday with a conference match against Hampton at 6pm at Burr Gymnasium.
