Carlisle Named To All-Tournament Team Again

South Orange, NJ-November 18-Howard University guard Shannon Carlisle continues to play well during the early season despite her team's winless start.  A 5-6 junior guard from Indianapolis, IN, Carlisle tallied 32 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals in losses to Seton Hall and Navy in this past weekend's Seton Hall Basketball Classic in Walsh Gymnasium on the campus of Seton Hall University and was named to the all-tournament team.

In the opening loss to Seton Hall, Howard (0-5) fell behind early and trailed 42-22 at halftime.  The Lady Bison played better in the second half, however, before dropping a 66-47 decision. Carlisle led her team with 11 points while backcourt mate Chris Aden contributed 10.

In the consolation game against Navy, the same pattern followed as Howard trailed 37-27 at the half and then played to a 40-all second half standoff before falling 77-67.  Carlisle again led the way with a team-high 21 points while collecting 5 assists and 3 steals.  Senior forward Melloni Benson came off the bench to score 18 points in 20 minutes.

It marked the second straight tournament that she has been so honored; Carlisle was named to the all-tournament team in the Basketball Travelers Classic at LSU last weekend.

Howard will try to get its first win when it takes on host Ball State in the first round of the Ball State Federal Credit Union Thanksgiving Tournament, November 25 at 1 pm.
