Howard Falls to #8 Ohio State

Columbus, OH-The Howard women's basketball team fell to #8, Ohio State, 92-57, in a non-conference match-up at Value City Arena.

Howard, (0-11), stayed close with Ohio State, (9-1), for the first 10 minutes of the first half due to the aggressive play of junior guard Shannon Carlisle, who had four steals during that time.  Ohio State quickly put their offense on the move going on a 14-4 run over the next six minutes and a 38-10 run to close out the half by 28, 51-23.

The Lady Bison began the second half much like the first, aggressively, scoring on their first two possessions.  The Buckeyes quickly regain the momentum they possessed in the first half scoring the next 10-of-12 points to go ahead by 31, 61-30.  Ohio State would increase their lead to 44 by the six minute mark of the second half, 86-42, and eventually winning by 45, 97-52.

Carlisle, who was the only Lady Bison to score in double-figures, scored a game-high 18 points.  Carlisle and Tamaya Daniels led Howard in rebounding with four each.

The Buckeyes had five players to score in double-figures led by Jessica Davenport with 16.  Star Allen (12), Brandie Hoskins (11) and Marscilla Packer and Ashlee Trebilcock each scored 10 in the victory.

The Lady Bison will take a two week hiatus for the Christmas and New Year's holiday and will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 when they host the Lady Pirates of Hampton University in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up at Burr Gymnasium.  Tip-off is set for 7 pm.

Game Notes: Howard shot 38 percent from field and 72 percent from the charity stripe...Ohio State outscored Howard 62-28 in the paint and 41-19 in bench points.
