ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Marie Reid led four players in double figures with 19 points as South Carolina State (SCSU) defeated Howard 97-45 at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center in Orangeburg.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 50% (38-for-76) from the field, including 78% (7-for-9) from three-point range. SCSU held a 62-39 rebound advantage and dished out 29 assists to Howard's 11.

The Lady Bison (2-14, 2-2 MEAC) were outscored 40-10 in the paint and 50-10 in bench points.

Brittany Baity added 17 points and Sophilia Hipps and Jenell Moore chipped in 16 and 11, respectively.

Howard was led by senior Asha Santee who tied the game-high with 19 points and was the only player to reach double figures.

HU trailed 49-25 at the intermission and cut the lead down to 20 with 15:08 left to play, but the Bulldogs outscored the Bison 11-0 over the next three minutes and opened up a 31 point advantage. SCSU took its largest lead of the night with 21 seconds left when Dana Lewis drilled a trey to put the Bulldogs up by 55.

Howard will try to get back on track on Saturday when they host MEAC foe Morgan State in a 2 p.m. matchup in Burr Gymnasium.
