Howard Falls to Manhattan in Consolation Game; Carlisle Named to All-Tourney Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Manhattan outscored Howard 34-18 in the first half and cruised to a 76-51 win in the consolation game of the Brown Bear Basketball Classic Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Senior Shannon Carlisle scored a team-high 19 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Carlisle, the only Bison to score in double figures, scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and shot 8-19 from the field. Junior Tamaya Daniels pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Jaspers held the Bison to just five field goals in the first half (5-22, 22.7% FG) before Howard picked it up in the second period. Manhattan scored 34 points in the paint compared to 20 by the Bison, but Howard held a 13-5 advantage in bench points and a 12-10 advantage in second chance points.

HU (0-9) makes its much anticipated home debut this Sunday, Dec. 9 versus non-conference foe William & Mary. Game time at Burr is slated for 2 pm.
