Bison Fall to Robert Morris in Opening Round of Thanksgiving Classic

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA. - Zykia Brown scored 19 points and Natalie Day added 12 but it was not enough as Howard fell to Robert Morris, 64-54 in the opening round of the RMU Thanksgiving Classic in Moon Township, Pa.

The decision was tight knit for both squads. HU took a one-point lead at the break with HU outscoring the Colonials 7-0 in bench points.

Grace Williams tied things up for Robert Morris (1-3) after hitting a basket with 43 seconds remaining in the first half. India Bradford's free-throw put Howard up, 24-23 with one second left and gave Howard a slim one-point lead at the intermission.

Brown led all players at the half with 13 points.

The Colonials opened up the second half with a 7-0 run before Morgan Neal hit a pair of free-throws to end the Bison drought at 17:08. HU (0-4) led 50-46 at 5:16 but RMU scored seven straight en route to a comfortable double-digit lead.

Day scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half. The freshman also led the Bison in rebounding with nine while Neal added eight.

Bradford chipped in seven points, four assists and four rebounds.

Monet Johnson paced Robert Morris with 25 points. Kendra Williams finished with 15 and Grace Williams contributed 11.

The Bison outscored the Colonials 23-1 in bench points and held an 8-6 advantage in second chance points.

Howard will face IUPUI in the consolation game tomorrow at noon.
