Coppin State Stops Howard

BALTIMORE, MD. - Shante Cummings scored 20 points and Danielle Anders added 15 to lead Coppin State to a 61-46 victory over Howard Monday evening in Baltimore.

Howard (3-15 2-4 MEAC) led early by as many as six points thanks to Tamaya Daniels, who had 12 first-half points. The score was 12-12 until Anders hit four straight for CSU, spurring a quick 6-0 Eagle run.

The Bison trailed by nine at the break but stayed close to Coppin State in the second half until the 10 minute mark. Cummings then knocked down a pair of free-throws, sparking a 12-2 CSU run for a 60-38 advantage with 3:47 left to play.

Zykia Brown had a team-high 18 points for HU. Lakeytah Irving chipped in 11 points for Coppin State (6-11, 5-2 MEAC).

Howard is back in action on Saturday with a home matchup against North Carolina A&T.
