NORFOLK, VA. - Tamaya Daniels had a game-high 25 points and Zykia Brown scored 21 to lead visiting Howard over Norfolk State, 72-54, at Echols Hall on Monday. The Lady Bison shot a season-high .500 in the MEAC victory.
The win completes a season-sweep of the Spartans.
Howard (7-21, 6-9 MEAC) had to rally from a four-point halftime deficit. NSU led by two at 16:15 before a free-throw by Brown spurred a 17-5 Bison run over the next four minutes.
The Lady Bison had a 12-point lead before Norfolk State cut the deficit to 50-46. However, Daniels answered with four straight points to push the Howard lead back to double-digits.
HU led by as many as 18 as the Spartans shot .222 from the field in the second half. Natalie Day added 10 points for Howard and Morgan Neal pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
For NSU (1-25, 1-14 MEAC), Raychele Payne finished with 18 points and Marquilla Evans chipped in 10.
The Lady Bison return to nation's capital on Thursday, March 5 for Howard's final home game vs. Hampton. Game time at Burr Gymnasium is slated for 6 pm.
