WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Courtney Portell led five William and Mary players in double figures with 13 points and the Tribe coasted to an 80-55 non-conference victory over Howard Thursday evening in Kaplan Arena.
HU (0-6) was led by sophomore Zykia Brown who finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Natalie Day and Tamaya Daniels chipped in six points each.
Benson added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Tribe (5-2). Kelly Heath added 12 points and Dani Kell had 11.
William and Mary made 15-of-35 attempts from the floor in the first half on its way to a 37-22 advantage at the intermission.
The Bison will face off with Hampton in its first conference matchup on Saturday. Game time at the Convocation Center is slated for 6 pm.
