The Game
Howard enters Saturday's contest with a 3-5 mark. The Lady Bison fell to George Mason 62-55 on Dec. 12 while Central Michigan (2-7) dropped a 74-61 decision to Alabama A&M in its last time out on Dec. 15.

Reigning MEAC Player of the Week Zykia Brown paced Howard with a game-high 23 points in the loss to the Patriots. Redshirt freshman Saadia Doyle added 12 points and nine rebounds while Brown also added nine boards.

Shonda Long had 17 points in the Chippewas' loss to the Bulldogs. Jalisa Olive added 12 points and Long led the team in rebounds with eight.

Scouting Central Michigan
Central Michigan is 2-7 with wins over then #23 Louisville and Valparaiso. Shonda Long is averaging a team-high 15.0 points per game while Britni Houghton adds 14.7 points per game. Kaihla Szunko is tops on the team with 9.2 rebounds per game.

The Chippewas are coached by Sue Guevara, who is in her third season at Central Michigan. She has a 26-44 record at CMU and a 150-26 mark overall in nine years as a head coach.

Double Trouble
Freshman Saadia Doyle has posted double-doubles in six of eight games this season. The Atlanta, Ga. native is averaging 13.3 points and 11.1 rebounds per outing and was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week on December 7.

Twin Towers
Freshmen Nicole Deterville and Portia Deterville are the first set of twins to play under the Coach G era. Nicole and Portia join teammate Amanda Edwards from Toronto, Canada and are mainstays in the Bison frontcourt.

The Bison are off for the next 10 days and return to action in their final games of 2009, the Hawk Holiday Classic presented by Staybridge Suites and Hotels. Tourney play pits Howard against host Monmouth in a 2 p.m. matchup on Dec. 29. HU faces LaSalle or Holy Cross in the finale on Dec. 30.
