The Game
Howard enters Saturday's contest with a 6-8 (2-1 MEAC) mark. The Lady Bison took down Coppin State 59-45 on Jan. 11 while North Carolina A&T (8-7, 3-0 MEAC) defeated Bethune-Cookman 88-62 in its last time out on Monday.

Junior Zykia Brown had a game-high 20 points in the win over the Eagles while Saadia Doyle chipped in 17 points and a career-best 22 rebounds.

Jaleesa Sams paced four Aggies in double figures with 25 points in the win over BCU. Lamona Smalley added 15 points while Ta'Wauna Cook and Amber Calvin chipped in 12 points apiece. Sams led the team in rebounding with nine.   

Scouting North Carolina A&T
North Carolina A&T is 8-7 with wins over Chicago State, Yale, Norfolk State, Louisiana-Lafayette, UMKC, North Carolina Central, Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. Ta'Wauna Cook is averaging 15.6 points per game while Lamona Smalley adds 9.8 points per game. Smalley is tops on the team with 6.7 rebounds per game.

The Aggies are coached by Patricia Cage-Bibbs, who is in her 5th season at NCAT. She has a 448-253 record in 25 years as a head coach.

Double Trouble
Freshman Saadia Doyle (5-11, F) has posted double-doubles in nine of 14 games this season, a feat that puts her 6th in the NCAA rankings at press time. The Atlanta, Ga. native is averaging 15.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per outing and was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week three times this season.

Countdown to 1,000 Point Club
Zykia Brown is 22 points away from joining the 1,000 club. She would be the 15th player in women's basketball history to accomplish that feat.

Get ‘Em Next Year
Newcomers Jerelle Gorham (Durham, N.C./Hillside H.S.) and Cabria Johnson (Upper Marlboro, Md./Elizabeth Seton H.S.) will sit out the 2009-10 season.  Gorham is a 5-8 guard and Johnson is a 5-11 forward.

Weekly Honors
Zykia Brown was named the MEAC Player of the Week on Dec. 14 after posting 23 points and nine rebounds against George Mason. Saadia Doyle was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week three times this season (Dec. 17, Dec. 21 and Dec. 30).

Twin Towers
Freshmen Nicole Deterville (6-1, F/C) and Portia Deterville (6-1, F/C) are the first set of twins to play under the Coach G era. Nicole and Portia join teammate Amanda Edwards (6-0, F) from Toronto, Canada and are mainstays in the Bison frontcourt.

The Lady Bison travel to Norfolk State on Monday, Jan. 18. Game time against the Spartans is slated for 6 p.m. at Echols Hall.
