WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard University women's basketball program announced that it will host two basketball camps for girls between the ages of 8 and 18 during the summer of 2010. The Elite Position Camp will take place at Burr Gymnasium from August 7-8 and at the Team Camp, also held at Burr Gym, will be from August 14-15.

Campers will have the opportunity to work directly with position and strength coaches, as well as current and former Howard players.

"I am very excited for the Howard University girls basketball camp and the opportunity to spend time with kids on a one-to-one level and teach them about basketball," said Niki Reid Geckeler, Howard head coach. "We are looking forward to coaching youths on how to play the game and the importance of teamwork in sports and in life. I am sure that camps will be an unforgettable experience for everyone who participates." 

Elite Position Camp
$50.00 per camper
August 7-8, 2010 ~ 9 AM-3 PM

Campers will be taught the fundamentals of the game by Howard University coaches, former and current players. Position camp will also include competitive games where players can put new moves to use. Sessions are held at Burr Gym. Registration begins on Saturday, August 7 at 8:30 AM in Burr Gymnasium. Camp ends at 3 PM each day.

Team Camp
$50.00 per camper
August 14-15, 2010 ~ 9 AM-7 PM

Teams will compete in three games each day. Coaches will have time to practice with their teams prior and in between competition. Teams will also have lectures conducted by the Howard women's basketball staff and strength & conditioning staff. Housing and meals are available upon request; additional charges will apply. Registration begins on Saturday, August 14 at 8:30 AM in Burr Gymnasium. Camp ends at 7 PM each day.
