STORRS, CT – Howard women's basketball team dropped its fourth-straight loss to Lehigh by a score of 56-29 in its final day of the World Vision Challenge hosted by UConn.
Portia Deterville gave Howard its first points of the game when she grabbed an offensive rebound for a put-back.
HU held a slim lead until Courtney Dentler made both free throws, which knotted the score at 11-11 with 8:12 left to play in the first half.
Lehigh took its first lead of the game with a jumper by Sarah Pearce at 7:24. From there, Lehigh never looked back.
The Lady Bison trailed 19-16 after the first 20 minutes.
For the game, Deterville paced Howard with eight points – shooting 4-of-4 from the field. Jerelle Gorham pulled down a team-high seven boards, while Cheyenne Curley-Payne had three steals on the afternoon.
The Lady Bison were held to 24 percent shooting clip (11-of-45), while Lehigh shot 35 percent (19-of-54).
Lehigh held a 42-36 edge on the boards over Howard.
For Lehigh, Courtney Dentler had a game-best 17 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Howard is back in action travels to Brooklyn N.Y. on Wed. Dec. 1 when it faces Long Island Univ. beginning at 7 p.m.
