Game Notes: Howard vs. Temple / Game Day Program
WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – January 3 – After concluding the calendar year on the road, the Howard University women's basketball team returns to Burr Gymnasium to welcome the Owls of Temple University on Friday, Jan. 4 at 7:00 p.m. on the HU campus.
HU is currently 5-6 overall, 1-0 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, 3-0 at home and 2-6 on the road.
The Lady Bison returns home following a 67-50 loss to No. 24 Ohio State on Sunday, Dec. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.
Lady Bison Bites
• Niki Reid Geckeler is in her fourth season as head coach
• Finished second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
• Fell 59-56 OT to Virginia during the WNIT in 2012
• Howard concluded it December road stint at No. 24 Ohio State
• HU fell 67-50 to the Lady Buckeyes
• Saadia Doyle tallied the only double-figure outing of the contest with 21 points
• While Kara Smith and Cheyenne Curley-Payne scored eight points apiece
• Curley-Payne finished with six assists and Doyle gathered three steals
• Victoria Gonzalez made her statistical debut with four points and five assists
• By the numbers, the Lady Bison shot 33 percent from the field (18-54), 25 percent from the three-point range (3-12) and 65 percent from the free-throw line (11-17)
• On the season, the Lady Bison average 55.8 points per game, 34 percent from the field, 31 percent from the long range, and 63 percent from the free-throw line

• The Owls are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference
• Temple is 5-7 on the season and 4-1 at home and 1-6 on the road
• The Owls are on a five-game losing streak, including a 58-66 loss to Georgetown on Wednesday, Jan. 2 in Washington, D.C.
• Tyonna Williams led with 18 points, while Rateska Brown and Meghen Roxas tallied 13 points apiece and Victoria Macaulay gathered 11 rebounds
• Temple averages 55.4 ppg., while going 38 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 64 percent from the free-throw line
Seeing Double
Lady Bison standout begun her double-double performances, on the season Doyle has:
• 21 points and 10 rebounds (DePaul)
• 12 points and 11 rebounds (Northwestern)
• 24 points and 10 rebounds (Delaware State)
• 25 points and 10 rebounds (Pepperdine)
Saadia Doyle was name Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The honor was announced on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Along with Doyle's accolades, the Lady Bison were predicted to finish first in the MEAC this 2012-13 season.
Major News
Among 340 mid-major Division I institutions in the country, the Lady Bison ranked 12th above Richmond (Atlantic 10), Harvard (Ivy) and Central Michigan (Mid-American) on the preseason list.
