PRINCESS ANNE, MD. (www.howard-bison.com) - February 25 – The final regular-season road game of the 2012-13 season kept everyone on their seats, as Howard pulled out a 40-35 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday, Feb. 25 in Princess Anne, Md., in W.P. Hytche Arena.

In the nail-biting win, senior Adelle Walton tallied a season-best 12 points on a 4-of-5 outing from behind the arc, while fellow classmate Cheyenne Curley-Payne led the Lady Bison with 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.

As a unit, Howard shot 44 percent from three-point range (7-16), 36 percent from the free-throw line (5-14) and 29 percent from the field (14-49).

After holding UMES scoreless from the field until the 10:30 mark of the second half, the Lady Hawks ignited a 13-5 run, turning a 13-point deficit into a five-point margin closure.

Walton snapped the UMES run with her final three pointer at the 4:31 mark.

On a final 5-0 Lady Hawk run, the Maryland host were three points shy of tying the contest, 38-35.

As both teams went scoreless possession-after-possession, Lady Bison senior Saadia Doyle headed to the charity stripe and sealed the game 40-35.

Howard kicked off the first 20 minutes with a slow start, trailing 4-1 by the first media timeout at 15:52.

The Lady Bison scored their first field goal at the 12:30 mark with a layup by Curley-Payne.  Curley-Payne then went on to sink the only made three pointer of the half for a tie of 6-6 at the 12;00 mark.

HU continued to place numbers on the scoreboard, while UMES remained scoreless from the 14:00 mark to the 6:57 mark, and scoreless from the field until the 1:26 mark.

Howard concluded the first half of action ahead 16-11.
