READING, PA. - Facing its stiffest competition of the year, the Howard bowling team compiled an 7-7 record last weekend at the Kutztown Invitational. Jordane Frazier bowled a team-high 1,094 pins during the three-day event.
The three-day event featured 28 teams, including 16 of the top 20 and nine of the top 10 teams in the nation according to the latest National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) poll.
The Bison went 3-1 during traditional baker play on day one. Howard took down Long Island (670-594), Cheyney (665-465) and Coppin State (675-531) with its lone loss coming to Bethune-Cookman.
HU played three top-20 NTCA teams on Saturday during individual head-to-head action. The Bison fought tough but relinquished all their matches for an 0-6 mark with losses to No. 2 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 9 New Jersey City and No. 20 Morgan State.
Frazier knocked down two 200+ pin games on Saturday for an 182.3 average and Brianna Uzzell totaled 987 pins in six games. Jasmine Hardesty added 918 pins.
Day three saw Howard go a perfect 4-0 in non-traditional baker action. The Bison took down Long Island 692-496 and SUNY IT 681-676. HU later downed Bethune-Cookman and Hampton in best-of-seven action baker games.
Howard (24-54, 7-23 MEAC) returns to action on Feb. 6-7 at the Capital Classic in Dover, Del.
