HOWARD BOWLING CONCLUDES DSU CAPITAL CLASSIC ACTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – February 12 – The Howard University women's bowling team concluded the seventh bowling match of the 2012-13 season, with a 12th place finish during the DSU Capital Classic, hosted by Delaware State on Feb. 8-10 in Dover, Del.

The three-day pinfall event consisted of bowling teams from Adelphi, Cheyney, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hampton, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, New Jersey City, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, and St. Francis (N.Y.).

On day one of competition, Friday, Feb. 8, Howard participated in five bakers style matches.  HU defeated Cheyney 730-557, while falling to North Carolina Central (700-662), Fairleigh Dickinson (813-681), Adelphi (735-662), and New Jersey City (759-719).

On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Lady Bison moved on to team play and ended the day without a win.  In spite of not securing a victory, Jordane Frazier tallied two 200-plus pinfall performances, including a team-best 244 pinfall against St. Francis (N.Y.).  Frazier led the team in total pinfall at 998.

The Delaware State event concluded on Sunday, Feb. 10 with Howard competing in another set of bakers play, facing Hampton, Morgan State and Cheyney.  HU defeated Cheyney 943-923.

For the final non-conference match, Howard will compete in the Morgan State Invitational, which begins on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes in Perry Hall, Md.
