WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard outscored Wilmington 8-6 in the second half but fell just short of a comeback and dropped a 15-14 decision to the Wildcats Wednesday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
HU (0-3) trailed 9-6 at the break before Alanah Webb and Ashley Lawrence scored two quick goals for the Bison, closing Howard to within one goal of the lead and forcing a Wilmington timeout. The two teams traded goals over the next few possessions with Howard tying things up on a Lauren Rivers goal with just under five minutes left in regulation. Katelyn Gibas scored the game winning goal for the Wildcats at the two minute mark and the Wildcats would hold on to edge the Lady Bison for its first win of the season.
Candice Bouknight picked up five goals for HU while Sakita Holley and Alanah Webb added three goals each. Rivers finished with two goals and Lawrence added one.
Howard returns to action on March 12 with a contest against St. Francis (PA) at 5pm in Greene Stadium.
