WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sakita Holley scored five goals and Alanah Webb added two as Howard defeated Central Connecticut State, 8-7, in a women's lacrosse affair Friday afternoon at Greene Stadium. The win ended a five-game losing streak for HU.
Howard (2-8) got on board early when Webb scored 58 seconds into the first half to give the Lady Bison a 1-0 lead. CCSU answered with two consecutive goals, but Howard scored three straight for a 4-2 lead.
Michele Conway added a goal for Central Connecticut State to cut the HU advantage down to one at the intermission.
Howard scored the first two goals of the second half before CCSU scored three straight to tie things up at 6-6. The two teams traded goals over the next six minutes but Holley scored the go ahead goal with 1:50 left to put HU up 8-7 and seal the win for the Bison.
Howard returns to action on April 17 with a home contest against Longwood at 4 pm.
