WASHINGTON, D.C. - After a tough schedule last year, the Bison lacrosse team is ready to get back on the field and gear up for their 2010 season. This year's 15-game slate features seven home games and eight away games, and it is highlighted by an opening match against Navy and home games against Catholic, St. Francis (Pa.), Davidson, Presbyterian, Central Connecticut, and Longwood.
"Although we lost a huge part of our offense in Sakita Holley, we have a lot of new faces that will hopefully help to fill that role," head coach Jessica Morgan said. "We have much more depth this year with experience spread all over the field. I'm really excited about it. I believe that we are going to surprise some people."
The ladies kick-off their season with a couple of away games; they match up against Navy in Annapolis, Maryland Feb. 6 and take on Mount St. Mary's Feb. 22.
For their first set of home games, the ladies host Catholic University Feb. 28 and St. Francis (Pa.) March 2 before hitting the road to face Frostburg State in Bobcat territory March 4. After facing the Bobcats, the Bison head back home for a set of matches against Liberty March 6 and Davidson March 13. Before spring break, the ladies challenge Trinity March 15.
After a brief recess, the Bison host Presbyterian Home March 21 and Central Connecticut State March 24 before traveling to a match against Jacksonville March 27. The Bison welcome Longwood April 1 and head on the road for a series of away games against Detroit Mercy April 3, Oberlin April 4 and Bucknell April 11 before the NLC tournament, which is set to take place April 30 to May 2.
