Howard Falls to Presbyterian in NLC Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A big second half helped Presbyterian stave off the Howard women's lacrosse team's rally attempt as the Bison dropped a 19-11 contest against the Blue Hose at Greene Stadium Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Junior Desiree Cox scored three of her game-high seven goals in the first half. Howard jumped out to a 4-2 lead with 19:22 remaining but Presbyterian answered by scoring the final three goals of the stanza. The Blue Hose led 7-5 at the break.

The Lady Bison were outscored 5-0 early in the second half and Presbyterian extended its lead to seven goals at 12-5 with 20:47 remaining.

Howard (1-7, 0-3 MEAC) put together a pair of 3-0 runs and closed the deficit to four goals with 6:28 remaining, but the Blue Hose went on a 4-0 run to seal the 19-11 victory.

Four Howard scorers combined for 13 points, led by eight from Cox's four goals and one assist. Ashley Lawrence added two goals and an assist while Ashlee Brown and Jazzmin Drennon chipped in one goal each.

The Lady Bison host Central Connecticut State on a non-conference matchup on Wednesday.
