Lacrosse Overwhelmed by Saint Francis

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard junior Desiree Cox scored a pair of goals but it wasn't enough as the Lady Bison were defeated, 17-4 by visiting Saint Francis Tuesday afternoon at Greene Stadium.

The Red Flash scored the first seven goals before Jazzmin Drennon responded with an unassisted goal for Howard with just over 15 minutes left in the first period. Cox and Ashlee Brown later added one goal apiece for the Bison but Howard trailed 10-3 at the break.

SFU (1-1) had three players tally three goals each behind Sheri Fort, Brittany Kovacs and Chelsea Kent. The Red Flash scored the first three goals of the second half to open a 13-3 lead with 22:49 left.

Cox added her second goal with 18:08 remaining.

Bison goalkeeper Sonja White recorded seven saves while Saint Francis goalie Danielle Pokusa made 11 saves.

Howard (0-3) next plays at Frostburg State on Thursday, Mar. 4.
