Lacrosse Season Ends With Loss to Presbyterian

FARMVILLE, VA. - The Howard women's lacrosse team fought tough against Presbyterian, but the Blue Hose scored five unanswered goals midway through the first half to pull away from the Bison, 20-8 in the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) Tournament.

Howard finishes its season at 3-14 overall and 0-6 in the NLC. A victory over Presbyterian (4-13) would have helped HU clinch fifth place in the NLC Tournament.

Lauren Rivers and Ashlee Brown combined for three of Howard's goals in the first period. Brown's second goal at 19:19 tied the score at 3-3, but the Blue Hose put the game out of reach after rattling off five straight goals with 11:18 remaining. The Bison trailed 12-5 at the break.

Brown and Desiree Cox paced Howard with three goals apiece. Rivers and Chasity Dailey contributed one goal each.

Howard keeper Amber Meeks stopped six shots in the loss.

Presbyterian was paced by Brittni Dulaney's six goals.
