Women's Lacrosse Triumphs Over Trinity, 21-2

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior attack Desiree Cox scored six goals and three other Lady Bison notched hat tricks as the Howard women’s lacrosse team defeated Trinity (DC), 21-2, at Trinity's Athletic Field. It was the first win of the season for HU.

Cox finished with nine points and added three assists and two ground balls.

Ashley Lawrence and Ashlee Brown both scored five times. It was the second hat trick of the season for both players. Lawrence also added four assists for nine points. Brown chipped in four ground balls.

The Bison led from the start, as Cox netted a goal just 38 seconds into the game. Howard scored the first nine goals before Trinity's Brenda Martinez scored with 17:53 remaining in the half.

HU goalie Sonja White recorded two saves, while Trinity’s Alyse Martin stopped 11 shots.

The Bison outshot the Tigers, 34-2, and held an 18-9 advantage on ground balls.

Howard (1-6, 0-2 NLC) returns to action on Sunday, March 21, when they host Presbyterian at 4 PM at Greene Stadium.
