Lacrosse Downs Fresno State on Senior Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Lady Bison lacrosse team wrapped up its home season with an 11-9 win over Fresno State Saturday morning at Greene Stadium. The contest marked the final home decision for seniors Nyla Funderburk, Sakita Holley and Xiomara Okonkwo.
Howard (1-10) led 8-3 at the intermission with Holley scoring four of her five goals in the first period. Ashlee Brown had three first-half goals and Ashley Lawrence finished with one goal in the first 30 minutes of play.
The Bulldogs chipped away at the lead in the second half, outscoring the Bison 6-3 in the second stanza. It would not be enough, however, as HU held on for the 11-9 senior day win.
Funderburk got the win at the keeper position while Diana Aguilar picked up the loss for Fresno.
