WASHINGTON, D.C. - UMBC dropped Howard, 19-1, in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
The Retrievers scored the first 16 goals of the game and led 12-0 at halftime. Kara Dorr got the scoring started with a free-position goal 1:19 into the game and had three in the first half.
Howard (0-1) got on the board with 14:03 left in the game when Sakita Holley found the back of the net.
The Bison return to action on Saturday when it hosts Detroit-Mercy at 1pm.
