Howard Women Play to 1-1 Tie

Howard, Quinnipiac Play To Tie

 

Washington, DC—September 23—Michelle Williston scored her second goal in as many games to give Howard University an early lead, but Quinnipiac rallied to score late in the second half and send the game into two overtime periods as the teams played to a 1-1 tie in a non-conference women’s soccer match at Greene Stadium.

            Williston’s goal came in the 12th minute of the game as the Lady Bison (1-6-1) were shooting for their second straight win.  Her goal came on an assist from Obioma Ogbuawa.

            Howard out-played their opponent, holding a 5-1 advantage on shots.  But Quinnipiac (4-3-2) flipped the script in the second half, countering with a 5-1 advantage on shots to finally get on the board when Leisel Lissfelt scored in the 83rd minute on an assist from Mallory Curran and Rachel See.

            Both teams played it close to the vest in the extra periods and were unable to get an advantage.

            Kyrah Bacote played an outstanding game for Howard, leading both teams in shots with 3 while goalkeeper Lindsey Walton had a fine day in goal with 4 saves.

            The Lady Bison take on Mount Saint Mary’s at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Greene Stadium.
