Howard Women Drops Second Straight

Howard Women Drops Second Straight

Washington, DC, Aug 28---When Howard University's Angel Ughivohe scored the team's first goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead over visiting Charleston Southern, there was room to celebrate for the Bison faithful.  But the celebration was short lived as the visiting Buccaneers scored five unanswered goals in the second half, including two in the first two minutes of the half.

The undermanned Bison (0-2-0), who showed resiliency in the first half, went life-less in the second half as the Buccaneer's (1-0-0) utilized their deeper bench against the short-handed Bison, who started the game with only 12 total players.

Lindsey Trexler scored the Buccaneer's first goal in the 47th minute followed closely by Sarah Catenacci in the 49th minute.  Emma Mattsson scored the next two goals for the Buccaneer's while Karen Knight scored the team's fifth goal off a penalty kick in the 68th minute of the game to close out the scoring.

Ughivohe's goal came on an assist by Meghan Nick.

The Bison will be back in action next Wednesday, September 6 when they travel cross-town to take on the Colonials of George Washington University.

Game Note:  For a five minute span of the second half, the Bison played with one man down.
