Howard Drops Home Contest

Howard Still Winless After Loss To UMBC

Washington, DC-Sept. 27-Cara Palmer scored one goal and assisted on another as visiting the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (4-6-1) blanked Howard University, 4-0 in a non-conference women's soccer game at Greene Stadium.

Megan Jupiter scored the game's first goal five minutes into the game to put the Retrievers up, 1-0.  Casey Smith scored a goal on an assist from Palmer 20 minutes later as UMBC took a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Bison (0-8-0), who have played undermanned all season, gave another spirited effort, but were out-shot, 20-5 and 9-2 in shots on goal.  The loss spoiled the debut of DeLaine Anderson, who was impressive in her first start, making several spectacular stops and finishing with 5 saves.

Howard will try to snap its winless sreak this Sunday when its hosts New Jersey Institute of Technology at 2:30 pm.
