WASHINGTON, D.C. - Aliyah Glenn scored a goal for Howard in the second half but it was not enough as Utah Vally State downed HU, 5-1 in a United Soccer Conference (USC) game Wednesday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
Katey Turner scored the first goal for Utah Valley State (1-5-1) at 31:43 in the first half. The Lady Bison responded and tied things up in the second half when Glenn scored the unassisted goal at 62:50.
Shante Adams added the second goal for the Wolverines at 65:16 to give Utah Valley State a 2-1 advantage.
Howard goalie Jessamyn Perkins suffered an injury with 25:00 minutes remaining and Utah Valley State took advantage of the mishap, scoring three goals in the next 10 minutes.
The Wolverines outshot the Bison 18-10 and 10-3 on goal. The two teams finished tied in corner kicks at 2 while Utah Valley State picked up 10 fouls compared to six by the Lady Bison.
Howard returns to action on Oct. 6 with a non-conference game against Radford at 2pm.
