OREM, UTAH - #1 seed Longwood took down Howard, 3-0, in the semifinals of the United Soccer Conference tournament Friday afternoon in Orem, Utah. The Lady Bison, who came into the tourney seeded fourth, wraps up its season with a 3-16 record while the Lancers improve to 10-8-1 and advance to the conference championship on Sunday.
Longwood held an 18-8 advantage in shots, including 11-2 on goal, while Howard had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. The Lancers played two keepers with Marcia Biddle leading the way with two saves. Bison keeper Jessamyn Perkins paced HU with eight saves.
The Lancers picked up its first goal just six minutes into the same when Tia Nardella scored on a cross after 5:55 elapsed from the clock.
Brittany Stubs chipped in a goal for Longwood early in the second half and Michelle DeSieno added to the lead after scoring an unassisted goal at 54:05.
